Ryan Howard checks in with Baseball Youth magazine to talk about his life growing up and his rise to stardom in the major leagues. Philadelphia was just one of the many stops the Baseball Youth Road Trip made during the summer as kids all over the United States had a blast playing the Baseball Card Challenge. In addition to these great features, the Cal Ripken World Series champs from Hilo, Hawaii are highlighted, and there’s also a poster of seven-time Cy Young recipient Roger Clemens.

Ryan Howard’s big smile, even bigger home runs are giving kids a new baseball hero

Growing up, Philadelphia’s slugging first baseman Ryan Howard collected baseball cards of his favorite stars, Griffey, Bonds and Gwynn. These days it’s his card kids across the nation are begging to get their hands on.

In his sixth year with the Phillies organization, Howard has risen from a top prospect, to the 2005 Rookie of the Year, to an All-Star who will be talked about for the Most Valuable Player award in the National League this year. (click here to read more of the story)


Road Trip! Baseball Youth spreads baseball card fever

For a month and a half this summer, Baseball Youth hit the highways and attended youth tournaments all over the eastern U.S. From Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, all the way south to Florida and South Carolina and up north to New York and Pennsylvania, kids had a blast at the Baseball Youth zone.
