Grand Slam's Battle at the Beach Starts Today With the East Crew In Attendance - Panama City, FL
Submitted by BYEditor on June 18, 2009
Grand Slam's Battle at the Beach Tournament kicks off today with great action at Panama City Beach's Frank Brown Park. The Baseball Youth Road Trip East tour will be there with their awesome FanFest giving young players the ultimate baseball experience.
There are close to 100 teams signed up for the event, and it lasts until champions are crowned in each age group on Sunday. The teams begin in pool play where they will fight for placement in the single-elimination tournament. Like always, the champions will receive the gigantic Grand Slam trophies complete with real wooden bats. The trophies really are an amazing sight, but you have to play some great team baseball to get your hands on one.
The Baseball Youth Road Trip has visited the Battle at the Beach each year since the Tour started in 2006. It has become a staple on the Road Trip schedule. Each year, Grand Slam Sports brings in huge crowds and floods the FanFest area. It should be just as big this year with 100 teams expected to participate.
Come back this weekend to read the recap and to check out pictures from this mega event.
