WILLIAMSPORT, PA -
TOUR STOP
August 22-28, 2006
What a way to end the Baseball Youth Road Trip with an amazing
Little League World Series in
Williamsport, Pa. The town is truly baseball-centered, and it was great
to see how everyone comes together to make the event so unique.
We
had an awesome time playing the Baseball Card Challenge with so many
kids. At an event like the Little League World Series, you would have
thought the entire town was run by kids. They were everywhere, and they
could not get enough of our card game and the free prizes that went with
it.
One
day during a game at Lamade Stadium, we went up to the top of the
massive hill beyond the outfield wall and handed out tons of free card
packs. Kids have a blast sliding down the hill on top of pieces of
cardboard, but once they heard the words 'free baseball cards,' they
quickly stopped what they were doing and mobbed us.
Even though the championship game between Japan and Columbus, Ga., was
postponed a day it was still an incredible game down to the last out.
Georgia's Kyle Carter delivered a masterful performance on the mound,
shutting down the feared Japanese lineup with 11 strikeouts.
Cody Walker hit a two-run home run in the third inning, and that was all
Georgia needed to win the Little League World Series over Japan, 2-1.
Both teams played outstanding baseball throughout the tournament, but
only one can be crowned the champion.
With the final out of the World Series the Baseball Youth Road Trip has
come to an end. The past month and a half has been absolutely awesome
with all the friends we made along the way. We can't wait till next year
when we fire up the SUV and hit the road for a bigger and better trip
around the United States.
