ORLANDO, FL - TOUR STOP

August 1 & 2, 2006

We didn’t see Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck or Goofy at the Disney Wide World of Sports, but we did see plenty of kids at our Baseball Youth Road Trip zone during the USSSA Baseball Elite World Series Tournament.

Teams were playing all over the 220-acre facility, but we found a perfect spot to set up and get our Baseball Card Challenge going. We saw teams from all over the United States, from Florida all the way to the West Coast in California. Some guys we saw at our first stop in Cordova, Tenn., even dropped in to say hey before they stepped onto the baseball field.

The Wide World of Sports, as we found out, is one amazing place. Over 170 amateur and professional events are played annually at the complex, and it was great to be a part of just one. There are baseball fields all over the place, and some of them are big enough where there can be a full-size football field in the outfield.

Besides baseball fields, there are soccer and lacrosse fields, a track, tennis complex, basketball arena and football fields. Really, any imaginable sport can be played on at least one of the fields. While we were hanging out playing the Baseball Card Challenge the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers were at training camp just 500 yards away.

Too bad we can’t stay for a week at the Wide World of Sports, but we had an awesome time. Now it’s time for the Atlantic Ocean and Cocoa, Fla.
