MYRTLE BEACH, SC -
TOUR STOP
August 6-9, 2006
The
Ripkens really know how to do baseball right. After a successful
adventure into Florida, the Baseball Youth Road Trip made its way into
Myrtle Beach, S.C., for a great stop at The
Ripken Experience.
Two age
divisions were squaring off to wind toward school’s beginning for kids
everywhere. In between their games the players had the chance to come by
our zone and play the Baseball Card Challenge. With all the wonderful
features of the Ripken complex, it was just a pleasure to be a part of
it.
Currently, there are seven fields, but two more have been planned with
construction to begin shortly. The fields are modeled after old parks
with the Polo Grounds, Griffith Field and Shibe Park making appearances.
There are also batting cages, pitching mounds and smaller training
fields surrounding the place.
We were
placed directly in front of the main entrance and exit so we could draw
the attention of anyone that walked in or out of the facility. Players,
coaches and families could not help but wonder what was causing so much
fun and laughter.
Now it’s
time for some professional baseball in Zebulon, N.C., where the Carolina
MudCats and their fans are awaiting our arrival.
