MEMPHIS, TN - TOUR STOP
July 12 & 13, 2006
The
baking Memphis sun welcomed the Baseball Youth Road Trip, sponsored by
the Major League Baseball Players Association, Topps and Upper Deck, to
its first stop Wednesday afternoon at the Super
Series World Series Baseball Nationals. One look driving into
the brand new First Tennessee Fields, and anyone can tell it will serve
as a baseball heaven for a long time.
Kids from
ages 9-13 and states across the Midwest and East Coast surrounded the
10-field complex and could not stay away from the Baseball Youth Zone
featuring the Baseball Card Challenge, a spin-the-wheel free giveaway
and a viewing of Harold Reynolds Presents Baseball.
In the
Baseball Card Challenge, kids are asked trivia questions with the
answers somewhere on trading cards they have for the game. Wednesday
afternoon players could win their choice of a Topps Cosigner card or a
pack of Topps cards.
Everyone
wanted to spin the wheel, including parents, so they could try to win
prizes like more trading cards, a Baseball Youth wristband, a copy of
Baseball Youth or a free year’s subscription and a Zip-N-Hit batting
trainer.
Next, the
Road Trip moves to Hopkinsville, Ky. for the
National Amateur Baseball Federation World Series Friday.
