COOPERSTOWN, NY -
TOUR STOP
August 13-15, 2006
The
Baseball Youth Road Trip has been at the
Cooperstown All-Star Village for only two days, and we
already feel like a part of the family here. Nestled in the heart of
baseball country, this place has everything players could ever dream.
You
could almost sense the ghosts of past who played the game on the same
piece of land or one close to it. The entire village was carved into a
piece of land with rolling hills all around, and that scenery provides a
unique feel. You almost have to experience it to truly understand the
beauty.
The
players, parents and umpires stay at the village throughout the week,
and there’s plenty to keep the kids occupied. The Baseball Youth zone
certainly gave the kids something to do when they were not on one of the
fields playing a game. We gave out tons of free prizes to the hundreds
of kids wanting to play the Baseball Card Challenge.
Our
zone was always busy with kids trying to play game after game. Everyone
there probably would have stayed till the sun went down, and then they
would have asked us to put up lights. It was crazy!
Being a part of something that has become a great tradition in just a
short time was awesome. I think we can put Cooperstown down as a place
we will visit next year. It will almost be like a family reunion.
