COOPERSTOWN, NY -
TOUR STOP
August 16, 2006
After a couple days at the Cooperstown All-Star Village it was time to
make the 20-minute trip to the place where every baseball player hopes
to end up one day, the National Baseball Hall
of Fame.
We
set up the Baseball Youth Road Trip zone right next to the building in
the quiet, wooded Cooper Park. Pretty soon after we brought the cards
and the prize wheel out the park was not as peaceful. As kids and
parents finished their tour inside the Hall of Fame, they came out to
try and win free prizes in the Baseball Card Challenge.
With the day complete, it was then time to take our own tour of
baseball’s past greats. It was great to see all the plaques of so many
awesome players. I can’t believe anyone would not get chills walking
into the room where all the plaques are mounted.
The
whole town of Cooperstown is centered around baseball as the town square
where the Hall of Fame stands is lined with baseball shops and places to
eat. The setting is beautiful as thousands of people walk the streets,
taking in as much baseball as possible.
What a special stop for our Baseball Youth Road Trip. Now it’s time to
wrap up the tour with the two biggest championships in youth baseball,
the Cal Ripken World Series and the Little League World Series.
