COCOA, FL - TOUR
STOP
August 3-4, 2006
You
could tell the Baseball Youth Road Trip pulled into a true Florida event
when we saw bunches of palm trees waving with the stiff breeze. This
time we were back near the beach for the Cocoa
Expo’s Summer Classic.
We
found a perfect place to set up our zone, and the next thing we knew we
had kids surrounding us, curious about why we were there. The words
Baseball Card Challenge and free prizes made them smile and yell for
their friends to hurry over.
The
Cocoa Expo Sports Center was a great place for youth baseball with 11
fields around the complex. There was even a 5,000-seat stadium where the
championship games are played. In the past, several major league teams
have called the Cocoa Expo Stadium their home for spring training.
With the heat wave still going on across the United States, we did all
we could to keep ourselves cool. We drank plenty of liquids, and we’re
glad the coaches were telling their players to drink water after every
inning.
The
Baseball Youth Road Trip did not have any water to hand out, but we
certainly had plenty of other free things to give away. No one was
complaining about the heat around us because they were too interested in
having fun.
